What makes a great studio? Find out at the Shooting Kitchen in Tribeca.
Abundant daylight
Two 12′ x 8′ skylights and six 8′ x 4′ windows with North and East exposures provide what has been called: Beautiful, consistent, diffused and uniform light. “The skylights are simply an amazing lighting tool that any photographer a can use and appreciate” – Len Irish.
We also think they give our space it’s comfortable, light and airy feel.
Large open space
Over 2500 Square feet of space are available for use in addition to a separate office area and seating area. Spread out, get comfortable and get the shot, host an event, or drop by to visit us (bring wine!).
High ceilings
Heights range 12′ – 16′ allowing for a broad spectrum of shooting angles and vantage points.
Convenience
We are close to transportation, shopping and places people actually want to hang out. With four subway lines within three blocks, two at our doorstep, the heart of Soho & West Broadway literally across the street, the markets of Chinatown and hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars nearby, the Shooting Kitchen is a great place to start and end your workday. If you have to drive, call us and we’ll tell you about the secret parking spot…
We took these high quality ingredients and added them to our special studio recipe:
A Real Chef’s Kitchen
We love food. We love hanging out in nice looking kitchens and cooking with high end gear. Working with a proper restaurant range, professional grade equipment and kitchen implements makes things easier, more efficient and more fun. Forget your knives? Don’t worry, ours are razor sharp. We have outfitted the kitchen with the things we like to use and the items we’ve found most useful. Everything is well organized and strategically placed, from prep bowls to silicone spatulas and zesters. Yes, we even have a zester…
Configurable Kitchen Appearance
The Shooting Kitchen was designed with commercial production in mind. We built and configured our cabinetry and appliances so that they can be easily customized for a fraction of the cost and time required for building a traditional set.
Here is how it works: You give us some advance notice of the look you want, we get prices, order the materials you choose and and fabricate everything so that it’s ready for your shoot. Panels are “snapped” in place over the existing structure for a perfect camera ready fit and finish, all faster than you can say “Thanks Alex, I would love another cappuccino”. Our set-up makes variations and set changes a breeze and there are no prep or strike days, costly set building or carting fees. In short, it’s convenient and saves you more of your budget for other things, whatever those things may be.
Rolling Island Counter
Wheel it in and out of the shot, use it to frame the room, for a prepping or shooting surface. At 6′ x 4′ there is plenty of room to spread out. When someone is cooking, I personally like to sit at it and watch the action up close – It makes a great place to stage lessons a-la food show.
Multiple vantage points and shooting areas.
Shoot into the kitchen, out into the studio using it as a location or use the studio as an alternate set, your choice!
Bring and use any equipment you like
Annoyed when you have to rent your gear from the studio? We were, that’s why we encourage you to bring your own, rent from your preferred supplier or ask us to make arrangements for you. We have the basics and think is bad form to charge clients for basic things like tape…
